About the owners

Mars:

Hello! My name is Mars Reina and I go by any pronouns! I am originally from SW Louisiana but I moved to Colorado after living in Houston, TX for 3 years. My dream has always been to open up a business and my love for boba tea and cafe snacks/desserts were a catalyst to opening Utopia Cafe.

My love for K-Pop gave me the idea to start doing events for groups and artists. I started those events in HTX in 2021 as Fairy Meadow Events and they were pretty successful. Moving here to Denver has given me and Dion a chance to pursue our dreams of establishing our business.

I am Mexican American and spent the first 4 years for my childhood in and out of the US and Mexico. I come from a very big family so I am used to catering to various tastes when I cook. I have 6 sibling in total, 4 sisters and 2 brothers. Cooking is one of my first passions in life, right next to singing.

On my free time I play video games like Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, Fallout 4, and recently Wuthering Waves. Though I’m not big into video games, I do spend my time playing these the most. Very rarely I watch anime when I feel like it. Some animes I watch/watched are Attack On Titan (my personal fave), Spy x Family, Demon Slayer, Death Parade, and Belle. I plan to watch more but for now those are my top 5 animes.

Dion and I have known each other since October 2022 and have been together since January 2023. After dating for 10 months we got engaged back in November 2023. Our wedding is in 2025 and with that we had decided to open up our dream business!

Dion:

My name's Dion Luna(they/them), I've lived in Illinois for 21 years in a small town of less than ~1000 people. I started streaming on Twitch for around 8 months where I would meet someone who would become my fiancé. When we started dating they offered to do a road trip to come to Illinois and take me to Houston, TX where they lived at the time. I planned on a few week long little vacation, and it turned into me moving in with the love of my life. I found a job at a boba store where my partner worked, there I discovered my love for creating boba tea. Boba very quickly became something I enjoyed and the prospect of starting our own little boba business is now a dream of mine.

I have a small tight nit family consisting of my mom and two siblings, a brother and two sisters. Also a friend I've known since I was one year old and I consider a brother, and I have proof! Both of our first birthday cards have each others names on them, and from that first year we've stayed linked for our whole lives. From this I consider him family. When I was younger I had a really good relationship with my cousins on my moms side. We got in so much trouble together causing mayhem, whether it's boxing while jumping on the trampoline or screaming at the screen while we played Call of Duty, we were always getting yelled at. This would be a trend for me through my life. I had been known as a trouble maker but also known for being funny. I would take great pride whenever I could manage to make someone laugh and this became a sort of character trait for me. When people laugh they are their most honest self therefor I took it upon myself to try to pull peoples honest selves out through humor. To talk about my blood brother there's a lot to say. To keep it short from the time I was 6 we basically lived for each other. With an absent father I relied on him to watch out for me and teach me. This isn't a burden anyone should have to deal with. But he did and I owe my life to him. We had grown close at a young age from him exposing me to things I would grow very much attached to throughout my life. Things like anime and Yugi-oh cards. For a far back as I can remember we formed this bond from playing Yugi-oh together and watching One Piece. My brother is my ride or die and I'm confident I will never have a tighter bond than with him.

Along with boba, I have some hobbies I enjoy like gaming, watching anime and streaming. I pretty much play anything that catches my eye, from multiplayer shooters that I'm very bad at (even though people disagree, but they're wrong) to personally my favorite, story driven games. I have a long experience watching anime, I've seen the popular ones everyone has either watched or at least heard about, and niche anime that I hold close to my heart. Lastly something I've very much gotten into in the last few years: streaming. I started, as most people do, streaming to almost no one. For about 6 months my view count was 0 and occasionally hitting 1 viewer. This viewer would lurk on my streams and later become a regular and a good friend of mine. I started off playing Elden Ring since it had been a huge game to come out at that time and a beloved game I still enjoy to this day. Over the next years i would get a few more regular viewers through branching out into other games and other communities. Last year due to financial problems and moving place to place I hadn't had time to keep streaming and my viewership had fallen. I've worked to try to come back to streaming since it's something I'm extremely passionate about and I'm dedicated to getting back to where I was and even further. After all streaming is how I met the best person in the world, my fiancé. Because of that how could I ever stop streaming.
